A Russian plane maker has created a luxury private jet for use by athletes.
The aircraft is specifically designed to accommodate professional sports teams during air travel.
The manufacturer Sukhoi will introduce the new fleet christened SportsJet soon.
According to Sukhoi, this new fleet could aid combat the impact of air travel on the fatigued athletes.
The interior is said to be equipped with medical appliances as well as physiotherapy equipment and massage facilities which will help the athletes overcome jet lag, hypoxia and dehydration.
This concept is based on the Sukhoi Superjet 100, which can seat around 100 people.
“Owners of sports teams do invest millions of dollars in their players and they require the best performance out of them. So with 50 percent of their time spent travelling and being tired they must recover, relax, sleep and check and analyse their biometrics,” said Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, Senior Vice President Evgeny Andrachnikov.
A mock-up of the SportJet cabin will be unveiled at the Rio Olympics. The manufacturer is seeking to target athletes competing in the next Olympics as well as soccer stars ahead of the World Cup games in the next two years.
